India's Home Minister P. Chidambaram had a shoe whiz past him during a press conference in New Delhi yesterday.
The shoe was thrown by Jarnail Singh, a journalist for the hindi daily Dainik Jagran. The shoe was thrown along with the words "I protest", when a question on the 1984 Sikh riots was being answered. The Home Minister however, chose to forgive him and did not file a case. The journalist was immediately taken away and said he regretted his action.
This in a way resembles the throwing of a shoe by an Iraqi journalist on George Bush, except that the Iraqi journalist flung it hard at Bush to hit him while Jarnail Singh just dropped it next to him as a mark of protest.
